The Market Pressure

Oil & Gas operators need secure, reliable telemetry from every remote site.

Wellheads, pipelines, tank farms, terminals and gas distribution stations sit far from the control room. The gateway between OT and operations can no longer be an afterthought.
N+

Unmanned remote sites

Wells, pipeline pigging stations, CGS and metering skids spread across geographies with limited field staff.

9+

Protocol fragmentation

Flow meters, pumps, compressors, fire & gas systems and legacy PLCs all speak different dialects.

24×7

Comms reliability

Radio, cellular, FOC and VPN links drop — data is lost and alarms reach the control room late.

OT

Cyber exposure

Field gateways are now an active attack surface. OT security is no longer optional.

Where WP500 Fits

One secure edge node between O&G field assets and your control room.

WP500 ingests data from wellheads, flow meters, tank gauges, pumps, compressors, fire & gas systems, PLCs and gas stations — and forwards it securely to SCADA, ADVAIT, TASM2M, CMMS, cloud and the control room.

Manual inspections and delayed alarm response.
Time-aligned alarms and events streamed automatically to control room and CMMS workflows.
Pipeline and terminal operational risk.
Continuous pressure, flow, valve and F&G telemetry — early visibility instead of post-event review.
Tank level / flow metering visibility gaps.
Standardized tank-level and flow polling normalized at the edge before forwarding upstream.
Pump / compressor health monitoring gaps.
Run-hours, vibration, VFD and OEM controller data forwarded to analytics and CMMS.
SCADA integration complexity.
Sits alongside existing SCADA — exposes data over DNP3, IEC 104, OPC UA without forcing a system swap.
Cybersecurity exposure at field gateways.
SE050 secure element, secure boot, TLS, firewall and IPS — designed to IEC 62443-4-2.
Need for scalable architecture across many sites.
Identical hardware and configuration model per site — fleet management without per-site reinvention.
O&G Value Proposition

Buyers are evaluating telemetry not as a feature but as the foundation for safer operations, lower downtime and stronger cyber posture.
01

Faster field-to-control-room visibility

Wellhead, pipeline and terminal data reach operations in near real time.

02

Lower dependency on manual site rounds

Remote diagnostics and continuous telemetry reduce truck rolls to unmanned sites.

03

Better alarm & event visibility

Time-aligned alarms reach SCADA, CMMS and on-call teams with full context.

FAQ

WP500 Oil & Gas RTU — common questions.

For specifics on a particular site, request the Architecture Review above.
What is an Oil & Gas RTU?
An Oil & Gas RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) is an industrial gateway that collects data from field devices at an O&G site — wellheads, flow meters, tank gauges, pumps, compressors, fire & gas systems, PLCs and gas distribution stations — and forwards that data to control-room systems such as SCADA, ADVAIT, CMMS and cloud platforms over standardized protocols.
Can WP500 be used for wellhead monitoring?
Yes. WP500 is positioned for wellhead monitoring — polling wellhead pressure, temperature, valve state and well status from Modbus / HART / 4–20 mA devices and forwarding the data securely to SCADA, ADVAIT or cloud.
Can WP500 connect to existing SCADA?
Yes. WP500 is designed for brownfield integration. It coexists with existing SCADA, DCS and PLC systems and exposes data over standard SCADA protocols (DNP3, IEC 104, OPC UA, Modbus TCP) so you do not need to replace your installed control system.
Can WP500 be used for pipeline or tank farm telemetry?
Yes. WP500 sits at the pipeline station or tank farm edge between flow meters, pressure transmitters, level gauges, valves and pumps and the upstream SCADA / ADVAIT / cloud system. It normalizes data at the edge, buffers during link outages and forwards securely over MQTT/TLS, DNP3 or IEC 104.
Which protocols can WP500 support?
WP500 supports multiple industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, MQTT, IEC 61850, IEC 104, PROFIBUS, PROFINET and BACnet, as documented in the WP500 product source. The exact protocol set per deployment is confirmed during the architecture review.
Is WP500 hazardous-area certified?
WP500 is a DIN-rail IP30 industrial gateway. It is not marketed as an ATEX / IECEx / Zone 1 / Zone 2 certified device. It is suitable for O&G remote automation architectures, subject to certified enclosure, panel and site engineering requirements — typically housed in an appropriately rated cabinet engineered for the site’s hazardous-area classification.
How can TAS support complete O&G RTU integration?
Beyond the WP500 hardware, TAS supports end-to-end architecture — wellhead RTU communication, pipeline communication networks, gas distribution station monitoring, DCS / PLC / RTU integration, flow metering, tank level monitoring, ADVAIT dashboards, TASM2M telemetry and CMMS workflows.
